Hurricane Idalia is now a Category 2 Hurricane and is headed toward the Gulf Coast of Florida. As of the latest update from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) at 5 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Idalia is currently about 195 miles southwest of Tampa, and 300 miles south of Tallahassee, moving north at 16 mph. It is expected to reach the Big Bend coast of Florida Wednesday morning. After landfall, the storm is expected to turn toward the northeast and east, moving near or along the coasts of Georgia and then the Carolinas late Wednesday and Thursday.
