Aldi announced this week that it would acquire nearly 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi from Jacksonville-based Southeastern Grocers. Some of the supermarkets will be converted into Aldi stores, the company announced in a news release. But it's unclear how many in Northeast Florida and specifically, Jacksonville — where Winn-Dixie's headquarters have been located since 1939 — will change to the Aldi format. Those that don't convert will continue to operate under the Winn-Dixie and Harveys banners.
