Don't waste your money here. If I knew better sooner I would have left after the first year. Housing quality is terrible. The houses are so old things just fall apart on their own. My walls are cracked, my vent is leaking water, and paint is coming off the walls. All that I had to pay for. They are money hungry. Rent goes up every year. I've never experienced so many power outages in my life since living here, and they aren't short outages they are hours at a time!!! I've also dealt with spiders and wasp, yes I know it's a part of nature but they come bad, especially the wasps and they make nests in the carports and by my front and side door. You call pest control and they just knock over the nest and spider webs, basically a quick fix instead of spraying something and the wasp come back and remake. Maintenance is terrible.. my oven caught on fire because of a short in the heating rack and all they did was replace the heating rack which now cooks my food at a higher temperature than the over is actually set. My pipes were clogged when I moved in causing water to come back up my washer every time I washed clothes. And the list goes on.... in conclusion if you get stationed here do yourself a favor and live off base!! I promise it will be the best thing for you!!! And you don't have to worry about things being in a convienent location because the commissary and main navy exchange are off base anyways and mayport doesn't have a hospital. Don't live in these houses it's not worth your hard earned money
