Jacksonville Fire Rescue - Station 50 in Jacksonville, Florida

I drive for Uber. The folks at Company 50 we’re called out to a drunk and passed out passenger in my car. The passenger and I were sitting in the passengers driveway. The passenger was unresponsive and wouldnt wake up. But was breathing. When they finally got there. They got out came up to the car and tried to wake him. When they couldn’t wake him on command one of the crew asked another if they had any “North-West O2”. The crewman was asking for ammonia capsules. This rhetoric is inherently racist. And needs to be addressed. The application of the ammonia capsule was Improperly applied from my experience. The medic grabbed the person by the back of the head used his other hand to hold the capsule to his nose using his 2 fingers to almost push it into each nostril and used his bottom fingers to hold the jaw closed. He did this multiple times. My entire family was fire and rescue and have witnessed proper use of ammonia capsules. This was not proper administration. During these multiple attempts to fully wake the passenger the one administering the ammonia capsule told the patient “Don’t make me fight you.” I am displeased with how this incident went down. I think it should be looked at.
